Tennis is a vibrant part of the Ranelagh Club. Our tennis cabana and six floodlit mod grass courts, allow continuous play from day through to late evening all year round. The tennis courts at the Club are available for all members to use.
There are active ladies, men's, mixed and junior tournaments that compete all year around. However, if you would like to meet some new people, play some tennis, without the pressure of competition, come along to the Monday and Thursday morning social games and enjoy a hit in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Play tennis on the Beach! The new tennis craze is sweeping the beaches of Australia.
Take the fun and fast-paced sport of tennis, combine it with sun, sea and sand of the beach, and you have beach tennis, the most electrifying new sport to hit Australia.
Beach tennis combines the worlds of tennis and beach volleyball into one exciting sport. It can be played both competitively and recreationally and because it's so simple to play, it appeals to all levels and ages.
The Ranelagh Club hosts an annual Australia Day Beach Tennis Tournament for it's members. This is a much anticipated event within the Club and members start preparing their teams months in advance. Boating, kayaking, swimming, BBQ's all happen on this day and it's a great day out for the whole family - even if you don't play tennis.

Junior Tennis Winter 2018
Grand Final Results
The Winter 2018 season wrapped up in cold and windy conditions on Saturday 15th September.
With 2 out of 2 Grand Final wins last week, we were hoping we might be able to add to the winning tally with our last 2 Grand Final teams.
Section 1 Girls
Our Girls Section 1 Team of Maddi, Amy & Celina took on Mt Eliza White, who had made the Grand Final after a fairly controversial week at the PTA. The doubles match with Maddi and Amy went down to a super tie break 10-8. Maddi took an early lead in her singles match and was able to hold on taking out her match in 6-2, 6-3.
Celina took on the undefeated Mt Eliza player. She went down in the first set, but fought back in the second to force a tie break. In an epic battle Celina took out the match in the super tie break 10-3. The girls are to be commended on their sportsmanship on the day.
Section 2 Boys
Our Boys Section 2 Ranelagh/Bruce Park Team of Josh, Frank and Matt took on Rosebud White. Our boys finished 4th on the ladder and snuck in to the finals by percentage only.
The boys had a great day and managed to win both singles matches which were played first....and that was that another win! Well done to both teams, fantastic result.
Section 4 Girls
The Girls 4 Blue team of Olivia Dymond, Anny Henderson, Molly Kerekes and Jess Sydes finished on top of the ladder, but came up against the Langwarrin team they had played 3 times during the season (a recent win to Langwarrin in Round 12; a good win to us in Round 7 and a 1 game win to us in Round 2). So we knew it was going to be a battle.
The girls from both teams gave it everything and with 1-win each in the doubles (7-5 and 2-6); and 1-win each from the first 2 singles (a great 6-2 win for Liv and a hard fought 4-6 from Anny).
This meant it was 2-sets all 19-games all – with the final 2-sets of singles to go. As the crowd got more vocal, the tennis on both courts was fantastic from all 4 players – and with a 6-3 win to Jess, followed closely by a 6-4 win to Molly – the girls were home in a ripper.
The final result 4-sets 31-games def 2-sets 26-games.
Section 9 Boys
The Boys 9 team of Tim Briggs, Frazer Smits, Oliver Hunter and Hugh Williams came up against the undefeated Mt Eliza team who had beaten us 3 times during the season – although Round 1 was by 2 games and Round 11 by only 1 game – so we knew our best would be required.
The doubles saw a well fought out 4-6 loss followed by a nail-biting tie-break win, so 1-set all after the doubles.
Tim played a near flawless singles match to get the boys started with a 6-0 win, so it was advantage Ranelagh with 3 singles matches to be played – as it turns out, the boys had 3 courts in a row with the final 3 matches on court together.
All 3 matches were in the balance and could have gone either way, but at the end of it all, Frazer fought hard for a 3-6 loss (against a near 6-foot opponent), while Oliver 6-4 and Hugh 7-5 were able to claw their way to victories.
The final result 4-sets 33-games def 2-sets 27-games.
Details will follow soon regarding the Winter 2018 Season Presentation where we look forward to formally celebrating with every team the highlights of everyone's season.
