Tennis is a vibrant part of the Ranelagh Club. Our tennis cabana and six floodlit mod grass courts, allow continuous play from day through to late evening all year round. The tennis courts at the club are available for all members to use.

There are active ladies, mens, mixed and junior tournaments that compete all year around. However, if you would like to meet some new people, play some tennis, without the pressure of competition, come along to the Monday and Thursday morning social games and enjoy a hit in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Resurfacing of Tennis Courts 1 & 2

Tender Process Complete

The tender process for the capital works associated with resurfacing of tennis courts 1 and 2 has been completed.  After due consideration by the Committee of all submitted tenders and a thorough due diligence process the Committee has awarded the contract works to ASTE.

The agreed scope of works will see courts 1 and 2 taken out of service for a period of around 4 weeks, commencing in late June.  Obviously, undertaking these works in the winter months poses some logistical issues and the time frame may be extended on account of inclement weather.  The scope of works involves:-

- removal and disposal of existing synthetic grass
- refurbishment and re-profiling of the underlying base
- drainage improvements
- new synthetic grass surface and nets, and
- fencing improvements and repairs

In addition to the above capital works, ASTE has also been awarded the routine court maintenance contract for these courts.

Insofar as practicable, access to the tennis cabana and courts 3 and 6 will be maintained throughout this capital program.  There may, however be short periods where access is restricted during material delivery activities which may also impact on parking, but these instances will be kept to a minimum and scheduled outside of high usage times.  The Committee will work closely with ASTE throughout the planning phase to minimise any disruption.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all in advance for your patience and understanding during this capital works program.

2016 Family Tennis Tournament Results

Our 2016 Family Tennis Tournament was a great success with 40 participants this year.  The level of tennis was impressive and has been improving steadily for the entire six years this tournament has been running.

Families Tring, Cummins and Bond-Scott were very strong on the day, but other families like Stevic, Quill, Galvin-Rowley and Terris were in the semi finals.  Good family friendly and competitive spirit was shown during the day.

Everyone had fun and it was lovely to see all these families playing together and showing such good sportsmanship.  Well done kids for setting such a good example.
