An addition to the Ranelagh Club is the Music component and Club band. Conceived by Club members, Richard and Narelle Mais, the primary objective is to develop an environment for members to create and enjoy music which is typically from 60's through to modern day (with an ever expanding set list). We have successfully formed a Club 'House Band' (appropriately named 'On the Beach' ) who performed their Inaugural gig on Friday 8 October 2010 to close on 135 family and friends, and have now performed regularly at the Club and at private functions.
Whilst the core band has been formed, we are keen to generate opportunities for other Club members to bring their musical talents to the fore and play with the core band. Members can register their interest, outlining their instrument or vocal style (if they are a singer) and experience, by contacting the Musical Director (see details below). This process will also generate a list of 'session musicians' that will be grouped appropriately thereby giving the opportunity to play with a broad range of fellow musicians in a range of styles. It may also attract new members to the Club and membership will remain a pre-requisite to play. It is probably worth mentioning at this point that we are not looking to recreate a karaoke club!!.... think more 'Rockwiz' mixed with 'The Tube' and a hint of 'Glee'...
